Imagery

I got this fantastic idea from Mrs. Williamson at Welcome to Room 36.  She had the children read the poem Green Giant by Jack Prelutsky.  While reading they created a mental image of the giant.

I thought this was great because we have worked on poetry all month and this allowed the children to see how schema helps mold your mental images while reading poetry.  I wanted them to understand that since every person's schema is different, every giant may look different. 

Here is how some turned out.

The kids loved this activity and truly appreciated all of the different giants.
